Confederate monument in Brownsville park removed

BROWNSVILLE, Texas (KVEO) — A confederate monument at Washington Park in Brownsville was removed Wednesday morning.

City officials decided to remove the Jefferson Davis Monument after weeks of debate and outcry from the community over what the monument represents.

The monument was vandalized on June 15.
