K-9 units alert Border Patrol agents to stash of cocaine

FALFURRIAS, Texas — U.S. Border Patrol agents said they arrested a United States citizen after a failed cocaine smuggling attempt.

On Monday night, agents staffing the Border Patrol chekpoint in Falfurrias referred a vehicle to the secondary inspection area after a K-9 alert.

During the inspection, agents said they located more than 75 pounds of cocaine in the car worth an estimated $2.5 million.

Agents arrested and escorted the driver to the station for processing.

Border Patrol said they turned the case over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
