JUAREZ, Mexico (KTSM) — Gunmen shot and killed the driver pickup with Texas plates, wounding a woman and child inside, police said.

According to El Diario de Juarez, the execution-style hit happened about 4 p.m. Sunday on Avenida Tecnologico, which becomes the Pan American Avenue. The wounded woman is 38 and the boy is 12. Neither they nor the driver, who died at the scene, were identified.

The truck was stopped at a red light when several shots were fired, police said. The man then drove several blocks north before crashing into a pole.

Police shut down the area for more than an hour to investigate and recover bullet casings. The newspaper reported that investigators found 23 casings at the scene.

No arrests have been made.
